Holding Memories: Recipe Box Workshop

Holding Memories: Recipe Box Workshop In-Person

In celebration of the 2026 UCSB Reads book, Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner, join us in designing wooden recipe boxes to hold space for all of our favorite meals and memories. Learn about the laser cutting process and design principles for creating 3D assemblies out of 2D materials. The final design will be a sliding drawer box perfectly sized to hold index card recipes.

During the workshop, we will create and customize our designs on our personal devices. A laptop is required. If you need to borrow a laptop, one can be checked out from the Services Desk in the Paseo. Materials for laser cutting will be provided.

If you're in need of recipes to put in your recipe box, join us for our recipe zine swap. This subsequent event will take place on Wednesday, February 4th from 5 to 7pm.
